English is a British street artist who coined the term “POPaganda”, which stands for a mixture of high and low cultural touchstones: from superhero mythology to the totems of art history.
He is known for working with greats like Shepard Fairey. English wants his work to draw attention to the darker side of consumer society. Because of his McDonald’s pictures, he was interviewed for the most popular fast food documentary ever, “Super Size Me”. In the 1980s he made a name for himself because of his illegal spraying activities. Ever since then he has been dubbed the “Godfather of Street Art”.
