An extraordinary design object from the 1990s: This white BIG Bobby Car originates from the “Bobby Car Art-Collection,” for which the toy manufacturer BIG commissioned various artists to design its iconic vehicles.
James Rizzi created his version in 1995. The model was completed in 1996 and embellished with numerous characteristic motifs by the New York pop artist. Laughing skyscrapers, sun, moon, animals, hearts, fantasy figures, and the distinctive grinning dinosaur turn the entire vehicle into a colorful picture puzzle on four wheels.
The motifs are applied as individual stickers on the white plastic body. The visible outlines and the multitude of small illustrations give the Bobby Car its unmistakable collage character. Each vehicle was decorated differently.
Today, the Rizzi Bobby Car is an unusual collector’s and design object – somewhere between toy history, pop art, and everyday culture. A striking eye-catcher for living rooms, offices, galleries, agencies, or extraordinary collections.

Condition
The Bobby Car is in pre-owned vintage condition. The plastic body shows light signs of wear due to age and use. Occasional glue residue and minor insignificant damage to the sticker edges are visible. These marks were intentionally not restored and are part of the history and authentic character of this approximately 30-year-old object. This Bobby Car is a production design object based on a James Rizzi design. It was not hand-painted by James Rizzi himself. The visible inscription “James Rizzi 1996” is part of the applied motif design and not an individual handwritten signature. The Bobby Car is offered as a vintage collector’s, art, and decorative object. Technical inspection as well as inspection according to current toy safety requirements were not performed. However, everything on the vehicle is in good condition and fully functional.
